Tales of Rambleon

University Level 6

An RPG-Metroidva pixel art game.

Tales of Rambleon is a pixel art Metroidvania with RPG elements where you can level up your character to defeat enemies on your quest.

My contributions

I am working on all gameplay based around the player, 
 

Basic Player movement

The game includes basic player movement, allowing the player to walk and run both directions, crouch under platforms and jump at varied heights through how long they hold the jump button.

Advanced Player movement

As the player progresses through the game, they can unlock extra movements that include:

  • Double jump

  • Wall jump

  • Dash

These advanced movements allow the player to traverse the environments in more interesting ways. 

Combat System

The player's side of the combat entails being able to get hit by enemies and able to attack back

Animation Manager

Animations were controlled through code in a script I created.

My main task was to add the animations to the player and advise teammates on programming animation players.

Character Class & Stats

I created the class system for the player to choose a character and that impact abilities, including:

  • Damage strength

  • Speed

  • Magic ability

Arena Mode

I created the secondary game mode where the goal is to survive waves of enemies, with their damage and health increase each wave.

Created all mechanics related to player and character controls, implemented animations and audio into game as well as an arena mode

Jacob led the project, overseeing all ideas and plans made

As part of being a final year assignment, Level 5 contractors were employed for 6 weeks to help further the projects development
