Cookie Clicker Reskin
University Level 5 Assignment
Click the button for points!
Use your skills of clicking buttons on your mobile to earn large amounts of points within this idle game.
This Idle game was created for a second year assignment in a pair. The objective of the game is to get money by clicking the button and then buying upgrades to earn more money. This game was made for Android mobiles and uses touchscreen controls.
This Idle game was made as part of a level 5 university assignment where I worked as a contractor for the level 6s and I was partnered up with a designer where we were asked by a 'client' to create a reskin of the cookie clicker game for android mobiles
My contributions
I created all the functionality for the game which involved the idle mechanics of earning in-game currency leading to an inclusion of a shop system to buy upgrades to earn more currency.
"Click for Money!"
When the player clicks the main button at in the centre of the phone, the balance increases a certain amount (amount dependent on what upgrades were bought).
Shop System
A shop is available to allow the player to buy upgrades to allow them to increase their income (balance increased per second). The shop is an overlay to allow the game balance to increase in the background.
To prevent the player from being able to buy an upgrade when they don't have enough balance, the upgrades would check their balance against the cost and disable if lower.
When an upgrade is purchased, the level increases with increases the player's income and the cost for the next upgrade is increased.
Pause/Restart menu
The pause screen is an overlay that stopped interaction with the main game but allowed the income to still increase.
In the menu, there is a restart button that asks the user to confirm that they want to restart the game (in case it was a mis-click). If the player clicks yes, all upgrades are reset and balance returns to zero.
Level Layout
I designed the layout of the game so that I was able to make sure the buttons worked with the design and allow it to fit onto the phone screen properly.
